My heart's a stereo, it beats for you, so listen close.

I'm currently wrapping up my last week as a Leadership Consultant in New York City with the women of Eta Pi Chapter at New York University. I couldn't ask for anything better than to end this amazing year in such an exciting, over-the-top city with Kappa's newest chapter!

I do have to admit that New York City has been a bit of a culture shock for this Georgia girl, but I've had a fun time getting so lost, I give up and get a taxi to take me home exploring everything this city has to offer.

I seriously cannot believe that this year is already coming to an end. On Friday, I fly home for the weekend, then it's off to Columbus for an end of the year meeting at Kappa Headquarters. I am excited to see the other Leadership Consultants; I haven't seen anyone since January!

This year has been a year unlike any other - there have definitely been tons of laughs, tears, struggles, and moments of overwhelming joy. And although this job hasn't always been easy, I wouldn't change my experience for anything. I've learned so much about myself in such a short amount of time and that really does make any of the struggles I faced worth it.

On Friday, Dan and I will no longer be a long distance couple - and that in itself, my friends, is a reason to celebrate!

Doing my little perfectly.

The following article was printed this morning in The George Anne, a student-run newspaper, at Georgia Southern University.

"Beware of the GTSNP Virus

Students of Georgia Southern University, I require your full attention. An epidemic has swept our campus and taken over our ladies. I am talking of course about the Giant-T-Shirt-Non-Pants (GTSNP) virus.

Symptoms of the virus include females wearing giant T-shirts and a form of non-pants and usually include severe cerebral malfunctioning, or stupidity.
The virus seems to be spreading mostly over sorority girls but has been known to transfer to those closest to them.

Now that word is out about the virus, the main thing to do is remain calm. Some of you may be thinking, “But how can we stop the virus? How can we protect ourselves?”

A key to protecting yourself is finding those infected. This should be very simple because the virus leaves all of the infected in the same state of external decay.

First you will notice the T-shirt. It will be larger than the female wearing it by at least three sizes and will normally be a bright color, sometimes with anywhere from one to many logos for local businesses, fraternity formals and bars printed on them.

Next, you will notice the lack of pants. Anyone can wear a T-shirt and jeans but the virus calls for a lack of pants. Please be warned: Leggings and athletic shorts are not pants. Do not be confused; it could be the difference between your life and death.

Other things you may notice are Rainbow brand flip-flops or a Polo Ralph Lauren ball cap. Essentially, the infected will display signs of preparing to go to the gym, without ever going to the gym.

The infected may appear healthy by wearing full prom make-up – trust me when I say this is a trap.

The virus spreads quickly through oral transfer. The infected prey on the weak by flapping their jaws open and letting a cluster of annoying sounds fall out. This horrible phenomenon is, oddly enough, called “talking.” However, these sounds the infected make are not words, clauses or proper sentences.

To hunt these infected you must simply equip yourself with a T-shirt cannon and a pair of pants. Any type of pants will do, really, but jeans seem to work best – khakis or slacks agitate the infected because, “like, thaaay jusss arrrn comfrbllllll.”

When approached by or approaching the infected, ready your T-shirt cannon and fire to stun them. Once they have hit the ground they will become agitated. This is where things can get messy. You will need to convince the infected to wear the pants you have brought with you.

At this point the infected's only defense is to spread the virus by “talking.” Because of the severe cerebral damage that has been done due to the virus, you can counter the attack with simple math and physics.

Memorize a formula — stay alive.

Once you have disarmed the infected, the next step is to kill the virus. This can only be done with an injection of sanity to the temple.

I know that times are hard and it is terrifying to be surrounded by this malicious virus every day. But, if we can stop the virus, then sanity can thrive. It is imperative that we fight back and stop the virus, humanely.

Or we could just go all Walking Dead on their asses."

As an active, alumna member of a Greek organization, I know that it is in fact easy for this student to assume she's better off, when she doesn't know what she's missing.

"What critics of the Greek system turn a blind eye to, whether out of ignorance or purposeful neglect, are the countless other activities in which Greek houses and their members are participating." You never hear a critic talk about the Reading is Key Event hosted by Kappa Kappa Gamma, at which sisters spent an afternoon reading with low-income students. You don’t hear about the successful Breast Cancer Awareness Programs initiated by Zeta Tau Alpha, or Alpha Delta Pi's work with the Ronald McDonald House, offering support to children and families when they need it most. If you're going to rip apart one inexpressibly unimportant part of Greek Life (ie. the clothes women wear), then don't forget to take a look at the other, much more important, facets of our organizations too.

"Forty-three of the 100 members of the U.S. Senate are members of a fraternity or sorority. Thirty-Six percent of the House of Representatives are members of a sorority or fraternity. Of North America’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greek men and women, 30% of all Fortune 500's. 40 of 47 U.S. Supreme Court Justices have been and are Greek. 63% of all U.S. Cabinet members since 1900 have been and are Greek. All of the Apollo 11 astronauts were Greek. A study by the University of Missouri found that Greeks throughout the U.S. and Canada are more involved on their campuses and rate their overall university experience better than non-Greeks. The same U of Missouri study found Greeks are more financially successful after they graduate than non-Greeks, are more involved in their communities, and give more generously to their alma maters." -Source: www.whygogreek.com

I trade my soul for a wish, pennies and dimes for a kiss.

Okay, okay. It has been a whole week since I last posted and I missed "pinteresting Wednesday" on top of that! Oopsy. Here are my favorite pins from the last few days.

Last weekend I celebrated Easter at home with Dan and my family! It was so inexpressibly wonderful to be surrounded by people who really know and love me. Sometimes it's nice to not be "on," to just be the normal, not extremely exciting, kind of goofy Kelcey....if that makes any sense.

This week I am at Oklahoma State University with the ladies of Delta Sigma Chapter. I'm having a great time exploring Stillwater with the chapter's live in consultant, Megan. So far I've seen Garth Brooks home (of 1 year), had my first "Barn Experience," and shopped at a place called the Rhinestone Cowgirl.

There's nothing quite like Oklahoma! Go Pokes!

Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, but here's my number. Call me, maybe?

Today I'm linking up with Michelle over at "The Vintage Apple" for pinteresting Wednesday. If you haven't heard of pinterest and are enjoying that rock you're living under :) would like to know more, head on over to the website which consumes way too much of my free time: PINTEREST. And then, you can thank me later...or probably not because your life will turn upside down and you'll probably develop tunnel vision from all of the time you'll start spending on this website or you'll start failing your classes because studying will become a thing of the past, or you'll spend your days crafting all of the cool things you find, so naturally you'll have no time for other important past times... and so on and so on and so on. BUT ANYWHOO - here are the things that I've found to be quite interesting on Pinterest, hence "pinteresting."

Don't be afraid, for I am with you.
Don't be discouraged, for I AM YOUR GOD.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Oh won't you keep on shining your love down on me...

I apologize for not posting very often. I am in a bit of a blog rut and although I have things going on in my life which keep me consistently busy, I'm not so sure how exciting any of it would be to the world (or more specifically, the people who regularly read this little diddy). BUT. I promise to do better and make a genuine attempt to blog more. Even if they're just posts full of pictures. :)

So, without further adieu - my life goals for April.
(Can you believe it's already April?!)

1. Go to bed at a decent, consistent time throughout the week, so I wake up each morning re-fueled, re-energized, and refreshed. (aka put the dang computer and phone away and go to bed before midnight!!)
2. Don't sweat the small stuff. Cliche, I know, but I need to make a sincere effort to forget about the things people say that make me feel bad about myself. I have a tendency to think and over think and I just need to learn how to brush it off and move on.

A picture from my weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sharon and I are the Tulsa Alumnae Association brunch!

"Five seagulls are sitting on a dock. One of them decides to fly away. How many seagulls are left?"
"Well...four."
"No. There are still five. Deciding to fly away and actually flying away are two very different things. Listen to me carefully. Despite popular belief to the contrary, there is  absolutely no power in intention. The seagull may intend to fly away, may decide to do so, may talk with other seagulls about how wonderful it is to fly, but until the seagull flaps his wings and takes air, he is still on the dock. There is no difference between that gull and all the others. Likewise, there is no difference in the person who intends to do things differently and the one who never thinks about it in the first place."

Have a good week! (It's Tuesday, which means you already survived Monday!!)

“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalm 23)

Deep in the heart of Texas.

I am currently visiting my second Texas school of the year and wrapping up my first trip ever to the Lone Star State! I am loving this week with the Epsilon Rho Kappas at Texas A&M University. Yesterday, a wonderful chapter member, Sydney took me on a two hour, super fun, extremely informative tour of the A&M campus. Needless to say, I was swooning over this tradition-filled school and I managed to take enough pictures to prove it!

All of the above pictures are from the Bonfire Memorial Site located on campus. In 1999, 12 students were killed after the bonfire collapsed on campus. The Bonfire was a regular tradition that took place each year before the Texas A&M - University of Texas football game.

Now a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my older sister, Niki!
I hope you have a great day and an even better night celebrating!
I love you!

Ps. Exactly 4 MONTHS until my life as a Leadership Consultant comes to an end!
Hard to believe that this year is already almost over!
